Keep It Human: What LinkedIn Wants in 2026

Even though I have been managing social media for clients for a long time, there is always more to learn. Especially since the platforms and algorithms are always changing! I recently attended LinkedIn’s session “What to Post on LinkedIn in 2026” and gained some helpful tips and reaffirmed strategies I use. Here is a summary of some highlights from the session. I also have links at the end of this article if you would like to read or watch more on these topics.

Effective Posting Strategies:

  • Create a Content Fridge – This is where you stockpile some evergreen content ideas, text, and videos so you have them in your ‘fridge’ and ready to pull out as you need them.
  • React to Topics – You can just post about a thought or reaction to things you are already reading. This doesn’t have to be a long-form post.
  • 10-Minute Free Writing – To help get started on drafting your ideas, you can try free writing for ten minutes. Don’t edit as you write, just let it flow and then you can come back and edit something from here into content or create a video based on it.

Important Social Media Reminders

These are suggestions they shared (which reaffirmed what I already see as working the best for my clients.) I love learning new strategies but it is also nice to confirm tried and true methods!

  • If you have a time crunch, try commenting before creating! This can help get a lot of engagement without as much of a time commitment.
  • Focus on quality over quantity. The session confirmed that you don’t need to post every day. And if you post too often you can actually hurt your chances of reaching your audience. They recommend 1-4 times a week.
  • Try experimenting with different types of posts: text, images, videos, polls, or documents. You can then look and see what works with your audience.

How does LinkedIn treat AI?

While LinkedIn is using AI tools to determine what content to show you in your feed, they are encouraging authentic, human content and engagement. They said in a recent article that their teams “take action to stop behaviors that promote inauthentic conversations on the platform. This includes working to make engagement pods ineffective and curb comment automation, including the use of third party software or browser extensions, which are not allowed on LinkedIn.” So, don’t try to use an outside AI tool to do your LinkedIn engagement and commenting for you!

Happy posting!
